Pump It Up With Podcasts

In the last decade, the body of research on workout music has accelerated considerably, helping psychologists refine their ideas about why exercise and music are such an effective pairing, as well as how music changes the body and mind during physical exertion. Music, they have found, elevates mood, distracts people from pain and fatigue, increases endurance, reduces perceived effort, and may even promote metabolic efficiency.

Some people, however, prefer to workout to a podcast. Much like music, podcasts distract people from discomfort and exhaustion. Whether you’re into pop culture, impactful storytelling, or just want something to laugh at while you’re at the gym, there’s a podcast that’ll suit your needs and make your workout fly by.

Below are a few options to consider next time you need a podcast for some added motivation to get your sweat on.
