Are you stuck in a rut?

Are you stuck in a rut? Can remember what got you there? For many of us being stuck at home during COVID-19 has lead to stagnant energy, excessive sitting, and excessive snacking.

The truth is, it wasn’t one little thing that got you there. It was LOTS of little things and those little things add up. As we live our lives, we develop patterns that can lead to positive or negative outcomes.

Think about your thoughts and actions like a groove. A good habit, if you repeat it, will smooth the surface and make the wheels turn with more ease. These good habits, like developing a regular exercise plan or committing to hydration propel you forward. When you’re moving the path of least resistance, everything will feel more free and easy.

A bad habit, when repeated, will not move you forward. As you continue to drive down the bumpy road, maybe you think about turning back. But then suddenly your wheels get stuck and you’re spinning in place. The groove deepens, and you get stuck in a rut. The wheels keep spinning in place and digging you deeper as you repeat the action.

Think about how you feel when you binge on unhealthy food, drink too much, sit all day, or watch endless television. Over time this state of inertia becomes harmful and can take a toll on your health!
