Have you become a Desk Goblin?

Do you sit for long periods throughout the day? Maybe it’s at an official desk or at a makeshift work from home setup during hours of Zoom meetings. In our modern lives, the problem gets even worse because not only do we sit to work, but we sit to live!

Do you get up in the morning and sit at the table for breakfast, then sit in your car to go to work, and sit at your desk in front of a monitor? Then you go to lunch and sit, hastily eat, all while multi-tasking? When your work day is over, you go home, sit at the table, have dinner, and maybe even have an adult beverage to cut down on your stress. And finally, you sit on the sofa, and watch some TV before you go to bed. The next day, you just get up and do it all again. Now, add in internet time and the time in the car transporting the kids around; you get the general idea. We are constantly sitting!

If you are leading a sedentary life, one common denominator exists, excessive sitting WILL lead to pain. And most of us are doing it in one form or another.

Do you suffer from:

- Rounded, aching shoulders

- Aching nech

- Pain in the wrists

- Tight hips

- Low back pain

If you said yes to more than one of these you may have morphed into … a desk goblin! Before you know it you're a creature you hardly recognize riddled with pain. Your shoulders and neck jut and round forward to stare at a screen, your wrists ache from resting on the keyboard, your hips ache from being constantly flexed towards you, your low back has a dull ache you just can’t shake from those tight hips.

The good news is - you don’t have to STAY a desk goblin. You may not be able to change the fact that you sit at a desk, but there are ways to combat the pain. You can sit upright, loosen those hips, support your wrist health, and even relieve that pesky low back pain. You can sit less often throughout the day after work and in daily life.
